ऋषि मार्कंड के बेटे "मार्कंड्या" को शॉर्ट लिफ्ट होने के लिए परखा गया था। ऋषि ने उन्हें शिव मंदिर में "महा मृत्युंजय मंत्र" का जाप करने की सलाह दी।

मार्कण्डेय ने सीज़ल की सलाह का सम्मान करते हुए मंत्र का जाप शुरू किया।

यमराज ने मार्कण्डेय को छोड़ दिया और मार्कण्ड्य ने एक लंबी आयु में भाग लिया और "मार्कण्ड्य पुराण" की रचना की।

ऊँ ..... मृत्युंजय महादेव, तरंग मैं सांसारिक इच्छा, मोह और मृत्यु के जाल में फँस गया हूँ, मुझे सता रहे हैं। इया आपकी श्रद्धा का आश्रय है, मेरे उद्धारकर्ता बनें।

महामृत्युंन जय मंत्र उसे सर्वोच्च है, पारंपरिक रूप से सही है और लगातार उसका जाप करता है। एक व्यक्ति को उसके बाद से अनुपस्थित किया जा सकता है।

मृत्युंजय मंत्र जप के लिए सबसे आसान तरीका है भाग लेने के लिए और दुख और मृत्यु के भय से मुक्त होने के लिए और धन और समृद्धि में भाग लेने के लिए खुशी।
