स्त्रियों की सहनशक्ति पुरुषों से कई गुनी ज्यादा है। पुरुष की सहनशक्ति न के बराबर है। लेकिन पुरुष एक ही शक्ति का हिसाब लगाता रहता है, वह है मसल्स की। क्योंकि वह बड़ा पत्थर उठा लेता है, इसलिए वह सोचता रहा है कि मैं शक्तिशाली हूं। लेकिन बड़ा पत्थर अकेला आयाम अगर शक्ति का होता तो ठी‍क है, सहनशीलता भी बड़ी शक्ति है- जीवन के दुखों को झेल जाना।

स्त्रियां देर तक जवान रहती हैं, अगर उन्हें दस-पंद्रह बच्चे पैदा न करना पड़ें। तो पुरुष जल्दी बूढ़े हो जाते हैं: स्त्रियां देर तक युवा और ताजी रहती हैं।

लड़कियां पहले बोलना शुरू करती हैं। बुद्धिमत्ता लड़कियों में पहले प्रकट होती है। लड़कियां ज्यादा तेज होती हैं। विश्वविद्यालयों में भी प्रतिस्पर्धा में लड़कियां आगे होती हैं।

जो भी स्त्री आक्रामक होती है वह आकर्षक नहीं होती है। अगर कोई स्त्री तुम्हारे पीछे पड़ जाए और प्रेम का निवेदन करने लगे तो तुम घबरा जाओगे तुम भागोगे। क्योंकि वह स्त्री पुरुष जैसा व्यवहार कर रही है, स्त्रैण नहीं है। स्त्री का स्त्रैण होना, उसका माधुर्य इसी में है कि वह सिर्फ प्रतीक्षा करती है।


वह तुम्हें उकसाती है, लेकिन आक्रमण नहीं करती। वह तुम्हें बुलाती है, लेकिन चिल्लाती नहीं। उसका बुलाना भी बड़ा मौन है। वह तुम्हें सब तरफ से घेर लेती, लेकिन तुम्हें पता भी नहीं चलता। उसकी जंजीरें बहुत सूक्ष्म हैं, वे दिखाई भी नहीं पड़तीं। वह बड़े पतले धागों से, सूक्ष्म धागों से तुम्हें सब तरफ से बांध लेती है, लेकिन उसका बंधन कहीं दिखाई भी नहीं पड़ता।

स्त्री अपने को नीचे रखती है। लोग गलत सोचते हैं कि पुरुषों ने स्त्रियों को दासी बना लिया। नहीं, स्त्री दासी बनने की कला है। मगर तुम्हें पता नहीं, उसकी कला बड़ी महत्वपूर्ण है। और लाओत्से उसी कला का उद्‍घाटन कर रहा है। कोई पुरुष किसी स्त्री को दासी नहीं बनाता। दुनिया के किसी भी कोने में जब भी कोई स्त्री किसी पुरुष के प्रेम में पड़ती है,तत्क्षण अपने को दासी बना लेती है, ‍क्योंकि दासी होना ही गहरी मालकियत है। वह जीवन का राज समझती है।

स्त्री अपने को नीचे रखती है, चरणों में रखती है। और तुमने देखा है कि जब भी कोई स्त्री अपने को तुम्हारे चरणों में रख देती है, तब अचानक तुम्हारे सिर पर ताज की तरह बैठ जाती है। रखती चरणों में है, पहुंच जाती है बहुत गहरे, बहुत ऊपर। तुम चौबीस घंटे उसी का चिंतन करने लगते हो। छोड़ देती है अपने को तुम्हारे चरणों में, तुम्हारी छाया बन जाती है। और तुम्हें पता भी नहीं चलता कि छाया तुम्हें चलाने लगती है, छाया के इशारे से तुम चलने लगते हो।

स्त्री कभी यह भी नहीं कहती सीधा कि यह करो, लेकिन वह जो चाहती है करवा लेती है। वह कभी नहीं कहती कि यह ऐसा ही हो, लेकिन वह जैसा चाहती है वैसा करवा लेती है।

लाओत्से यह कह रहा है कि उसकी शक्ति बड़ी है। और उसकी शक्ति क्या है? क्योंकि वह दासी है। शक्ति उसकी यह है कि वह छाया हो गई है। बड़े से बड़े शक्तिशाली पुरुष स्त्री के प्रेम में पड़ जाते हैं, और एकदम अशक्त हो जाते हैं।

Whenever a woman falls in love with a man in any corner of the world, she immediately makes herself a maid, because being a maid is a deep privilege. She understands the secret of life.

The woman puts herself down, sets her feet. And you have seen that whenever a woman puts herself at your feet, then suddenly a crown sits on your head. Hangs in steps, reaches very deep, very high. You start thinking about that twenty four hours. She leaves herself at your feet, becomes your shadow. And you don't even know that the shadow starts driving you, you start walking with the help of shadow.

The woman also never directly says to do it, but gets it done whatever she wants. She never says that it should happen, but she gets it done as she wants.

Lao Tzu is saying that his power is great. And what is its power? Because she is a maid. Her power is that she has become a shadow. Most powerful men fall in love with a woman, and become completely disabled.
